Wakeup Copenhagen, Carsten Niebuhrs Gade

Copenhagen is probably one of the most expensive cities in the world to live and visit, but there is value for money to be found. Wakeup Copenhagen, Carsten Niebuhrs Gade is a big 510-room hotel focusing on minimalistic, modern rooms. Each room is 12-15 square meters and all have a TV, working desk, toilet, shower, a comfortable bed (mattress from Getama) and complimentary WiFi.

All Wakeup hotels, (three in Copenhagen and one in Aarhus) are smoke-free which is another thing I liked about the hotel. I have travelled light for years, and I like that I don’t have to pay for space I don’t need. In my experience, the rooms I’ve had at Wake Up’s hotels have been nicer than some of the outdated rooms I’ve stayed in 5-star hotels. Officially Wakeup is a 2-star hotel, but I would not think too much about stars when booking a hotel, but instead look at photos and reviews. This hotel has a Booking.com score of 7,6, while 91% give it three, four or five out of five on Tripadvisor as of the time of writing. I would much rather select this hotel and save money than many expensive four and five-star hotels, especially if the purpose of my hotel for a visit to Copenhagen is just a room for sleeping.

Check-in and check-out is a fast and easy process. Overall this is, together with Steel House, probably the best value you can get for a small private room in Copenhagen.
