Top 10 Resorts in Asia for Food

Welcome Amenities from the Chef at Gili Lankanfushi.

I have stayed at more than 100 luxury resorts in Asia, and although almost all are lovely, the disappointing part is often the food. It is often disappointing, especially if you are looking for European cuisine. Below is a list of 10 resorts that not only are wonderful but also get the food right.

1. Gili Lankanfushi, The Maldives.
One of my favourite resorts in the world and the food is fantastic as well. Attention to detail, high-quality food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was very impressed!

2. Hansar Samui Resort & Spa, Koh Samui.
The chef at Hansar Samui Resort & Spa was previously the chef of the King of Jordan. Fantastic French food on a Michelin level. The Thai food is great as well.

3. Soneva Fushi, The Maldives.
Outstanding attention to detail and the best breakfast buffet in Asia. Fantastic, personalised service and everything in this wonderful resort is world class – including the food.

4. Regent Cape Panwa, Phuket.
Chef Justin Baziuk is very talented and did an amazing job during my stay. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all among the best I’ve had in Asia and are reasonably priced as well.

5. Alila Villas Soori, Bali.
Alila has invested in a fantastic chef with a fine dining experience. I had a risotto made to perfection, and the entire experience was Michelin-worthy.

6. Four Seasons Resort at Sayan, Bali.
One of the best resorts in the world with extraordinary service. The food is also great and with careful attention to detail.

7. Six Senses Laamu, The Maldives.
Fresh, simple food, but with attention to detail and focus on healthy living. I loved it.

8. Matahari Beach Resort & Spa, Northen Bali.
Northern Bali does not have many luxury resorts, but this resort has the best food I’ve tasted at any resort in Bali. The French General Manager used to be a chef, and he brings the French Michelin experience to Bali. It was the first member ever of Relais & Châteaux in Bali they still get the food right!

9. Soneva Kiri, Koh Kood, Thailand.
This unique resort recently appointed an experienced South African chef who does an amazing job with attention to detail.

10. Satri House, Luang Prabang, Laos.
Previously a Relais & Châteaux resort. The dinner was not only better than at Amantaka but also cheaper. I tried a few different restaurants in Luang Prabang, and this was by far the best. Please don’t expect French Michelin food, but more authentic well-made local food.
