Sofitel Malabo Sipopo Le Golf
Sofitel Malabo Sipopo Le Golf is a beautiful Equatorial Guinea resort blending luxury with African flair. This 5-star resort boasts 200 rooms with stunning sea or golf course views. Guests can relax by the pool, unwind at the private beach, or tee off at the championship golf course. They can also experience French-influenced cuisine or explore nearby Malabo. Ideal for business or pleasure, it is a really impressive property set in beautiful surroundings in Equatorial Guinea.
Below is my experience based on a three-night stay at the property.
My arrival experience: Warm welcome with a chocolate drink before being escorted to the room.
What I liked the most: It was a mix of the contemporary design, the attention to detail, the beach, the food, and the location. It was my favourite Sofitel hotel in the world and surely a memorable one.
What about the food? It was very impressive in different ways. All my meals were of excellent quality and comparable to a Michelin-recommended European restaurant. It is far from a star as it is not fine dining, but it was excellent and very unexpected in a location like this.
What about the service: It was very good and attentive. Of course, the low occupancy at the hotel made it easier, but I was impressed with what I saw.
What about the rooms: Beautiful, contemporary rooms. My room had a comfortable bed, working desk, flatscreen TV, shower in a bathtub and a balcony with beautiful sea views. I would have preferred a standalone shower, otherwise, it was an impressive room.
Number of rooms: 200.
Type of property: Something between a business hotel and a resort. City resort is perhaps the best way to describe it, although it was outside the city of Malabo.
Location: Near Malabo, Equatorial Guinea
Facilities: Spa, gym, pool and business/meeting facilities.
Complimentary internet: Yes, and fast enough for videos and calls.
My overall impression: It was a great experience. It is my favourite Sofitel hotel in the world. It was unexpected in a country like Equatorial Guinea to find this level of quality.
