Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu

Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu is a Chinese luxury hotel part of the impressive Shangri-La chain. This hotel is an urban oasis which boasts elegant rooms and suites, some offering plush city views. Guest can unwind by the serene indoor pool or pamper themselves at CHI, The Spa, savour delectable Sichuan cuisine alongside international fare at their restaurants. Step out and explore Chengdu’s vibrant culture or unwind with impeccable service in this luxurious hotel.
Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.
One of the things I liked: The food. It surprised me and was great after I experienced horrible food I in Tibet and North Korea prior to visiting Chengdu.
What about the food? Australian chef Peter Trewenack makes a big difference for this hotel. I have often been disappointed with the food in Chinese luxury hotels, but Trewenack has taken the breakfast and dinner buffet to a really high level.
What about the service? It was professional. Well-run hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful and fast, especially when I realized my flight was cancelled and left for the airport.
What about the rooms: They were typical Shangri-La and great for both leisure and business travellers. I don’t like the bathroom products found at most Shangri-La, but this one had L’Occitane, which I have seen at many Four Seasons hotels. A separate rain shower and a beautiful city view made the impression of the room even better.
