The Regent Taipei used to be a Four Seasons hotel but is now on its own and doing a great job at being one of the best places to stay in Taipei. A great location in the Zhongshan District is the first of many plusses about this hotel. With a total of 538 rooms, I was excited to have Club Lounge access as this is maybe kind of a hotel within a hotel with personalized service and staff that remembers you. The club lounge is excellent, with complimentary drinks and snacks 24/7, including ice cream.
I stayed in a Deluxe Room with a hard bed, a separate shower from the bathtub, a flatscreen TV, a working desk, Hermes products and, unfortunately, a hard bed. Not the soft, comfortable bed Four Seasons has in probably all of their hotels and tells me they might have replaced the beds when Four Seasons left. Essential internet is complimentary, while premium is chargeable. The fundamental internet is super fast and the most rapid “basic internet option” I have seen in any hotel. The in-room phones have butler service buttons for English and Chinese service, but the butler service is not personalized, and I didn’t see any butler at all during my 24-hour stay.
The hotel is a very big complex with eight restaurants, a rooftop pool and spa, and fitness facilities. It has impressive business facilities, and although it is a business hotel, I felt very well taken care of as a leisure traveller. Regent Taipei is a massive hotel, but it is run very professionally by Regent and is surely a great choice in the capital of Taiwan.
