Supposedly Africa’s greenest hotel, my short one-night stay was very pleasant. First, a comfortable ride with their complimentary shuttle from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, followed by a warm welcome and check-in. My room was small and comfortable with a good bed, working desk, flat-screen TV, a standalone shower and complimentary high-speed internet access.

This hotel has 145 rooms and a gym, pool, business, and meeting facilities, making it a 4-star hotel in the South African rating system. The service is friendly and comparable to that of a Hilton or Sheraton hotel. If you have a stopover or an early flight in Cape Town, it is worth staying at Hotel Verde. After a good night’s sleep, I left early the next morning for Port Elizabeth.
