Aethos Ericeira
Aethos Ericeira is a 5-star luxury hotel on Portugal’s surf coast offering a stunning modern design and professional service. In late 2023 I stayed at the hotel for one night after a long drive from Faro’s international airport.
I first went to Portugal at the age of 17 and visited the country a number of times since. Portugal has made a great impression on me and it is included as one of my top 50 favourite countries in this list. My main reason for this trip was to get away from the cold weather of Denmark and to have several medical treatments in Portugal, but due to a finger infection, I instead ended up at a hospital on this trip and was prescribed antibiotics.
My reason for selecting Aethos Ericeira was mainly due to two factors. First, a Booking.com score of 9.0 for guest satisfaction which is very high, and secondly because of the stunning modern design. It is very attractive and something I prefer compared to an old-school classical design. Upon arrival at Aethos Ericeira, the Belgian general manager Floris Boyen welcomed me and escorted me to the room. It was nice to meet him again, more than 12 years after meeting him in Peru. The room had an attractive design as expected as well as a bed, TV, and a lovely shower in the bathroom.
The design, location and service are three of the main selling points of this hotel. In my opinion, the Portuguese people are the friendliest in all of Europe and here they are not only friendly but also professional. The location is great for a road trip in Portugal and you have Located in Ericeira, Porto da Calada beach is around a kilometre and a half away which you can also access by foot or by using one of the free bikes available for guests during their stay. There is also a nice walking trail with beautiful natural scenery by the hotel. The facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, a wellness spa, a fitness centre, a garden, and a bar. I am on a very strict diet and can’t comment on the food, but read very impressive things online, and it might be one of the top reasons to stay here as well.
In conclusion, Aethos Ericeira is a popular design hotel in the Portuguese countryside offering excellent service and facilities set in stunning surroundings.
