101 Hotel Reykjavik is a member of Design Hotels located in the centre of Reykjavik and the first boutique hotel in the country of Iceland. My experience started with a warm welcome and I liked the atmosphere from the beginning.
I stayed in a Standard Room which was beautifully designed. Contemporary with comfortable bed, working desk, flatscreen TV, chargeable mini-bar and a bathroom with standalone shower. The internet is complimentary and works fine. My only problem with the room was the noise level where you can hear people walking on the floor or closing the room. Due to bad weather, the wind also made the room a little noisy at night.
The service level at 101 Hotel is really good. Design Hotels are not known for their service but for their extraordinary design. 101 Hotel did have some of the better service in the Design Hotels collection and it’s definitely worth its membership of the prestigious collection. I also like the size of the hotel with only 38 rooms and suites which makes personalized service possible instead of staying in a big business hotel in Reykjavik.
The bottom line is that 101 Hotel is a unique design experience within itself. I didn’t have breakfast included so can’t comment on that, but the hotel works very well and I can highly recommend staying here when travelling to the lovely city of Reykjavik.
