The Strand Yangon

The Strand Yangon is a historic luxury hotel situated in the heart of Yangon, Myanmar. With colonial-era charm and elegant decor, it offers spacious rooms, fine dining options, and personalized service. Guests can enjoy its iconic lobby and explore nearby cultural attractions, making it a great blend of heritage and modern comfort for discerning travellers.
The Strand Yangon is one of the smallest properties in the Leading Hotels of the World portfolio. The property has a colonial design which unfortunately isn’t up to the standards of the other GHM hotels I’ve stayed. It’s quite dated and a renovation could make a difference for this hotel.
The service was great and made it a very pleasant experience. The personalized butler service is very impressive although I – after more than 650 great hotels – don’t like butler service personally. The downtown location makes it a better business option than the Governor’s Residence, but for leisure travellers Governor’s Residence is a better place to stay, in my opinion.
The stay ended with a truly great breakfast and the local Mohinga Soup was really impressive. A downside, however, was to experience an extremely slow internet connection. Overall a very nice hotel and definitely recommended.
