After 35 Four Seasons or about in the past I arrived in Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire to experience an English countryside hotel under the Four Seasons brand.

Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire has 133 rooms and is Four Seasons only country hotel after having sold Four Seasons Provence. The hotel is much bigger than most country hotels, and it was a quite different experience than staying at a smaller one.

I arrived in the afternoon, but wasn’t impressed with the welcome which I will explain in the service part below. I was escorted to the room after the registration where I stayed in a Grand Manor Room.

The room had 45 square metres, the usual comfortable Four Seasons bed, sitting area and nice welcome amenities which includes champagne, chocolates and fruits.

The bathroom had an unusual Four Seasons design with a freestanding bathtub which I’ve only seen in a few of their resorts. Another unusual thing was the Asprey products they use in their better room categories and suites, while the standard rooms has L’Occitane.

The service was overall great, but as I wrote before the welcome wasn’t nice. They only said “Good afternoon”, and I saw asked for my passport. No “Welcome”, instead “Can you fill this out for me”? That is where a hotel becomes too corporate for me, but the staff seemed well-trained and professional as expected in a Four Seasons hotel.

Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire is a smoke-free hotel and allows dogs. They even have their own dog based in the hotel. It’s also a very children friendly hotel, but this often becomes a problem for people that wants a quiet time. I personally prefer small intimate country houses, but Four Seasons is a chain and are great at creating the same kind of experience around the world.

The facilities included a great spa. Huge indoor/outdoor swimming pool and a great steam room was an excellent place to relax in the evening. The property itself is beautiful as well as so is the surroundings. The last impression was a lovely breakfast with a great buffet and ala carte choices.

Overall it was a great Four Seasons experience. After 36 or about Four Seasons I know the brand very well and they are always up to a great standard and Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire is no exception.
