Uma by COMO, Paro

Uma by COMO, Paro, nestled in the serene Paro Valley of Bhutan, offers luxurious accommodations with stunning Himalayan views. Guests can experience elegant rooms, holistic wellness treatments, and farm-to-table dining. With its peaceful location near cultural landmarks such as the Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery and Uma by COMO, Paro provides a tranquil sanctuary for guests seeking spiritual rejuvenation and natural beauty in Bhutan. I was very excited to experience the hotel and arrived with high expectations.

How to get here: Drukair flies to Paro from Bagdogra, Bangkok, Delhi, Dhaka, Gaya, Guwahati, Kathmandu, Kolkata, Mumbai, Singapore. I flew with them from Bangkok to Paro and then to Singapore. It was two pleasant flights and the arrival into Paro is exceptionally beautiful.

Recommended Tour Operator: Windhorse Tours, Treks, and Expeditions was a great company to work with from beginning to end. They organized my visa and my tours and were a great driver and guides. I loved Bhutan and would like to use them again in the future.

My arrival experience: The American front office manager welcomed me with a fantastic drink before escorting me to the room.

What I liked the most: The authentic experience, the great food and the impressive staff.

What about the food? I was pleasantly surprised about most things here, but the food was the biggest surprise. It is very impressive and comparable to a Michelin-recommended restaurant, or I would even go as far as saying a starred restaurant in Europe. Well-trained chefs in the kitchen use expensive, high-quality imported ingredients, mainly from Australia. My Australian sea bass and scallops were of extraordinary quality.

What about the service? The Bhutanese people really impressed me and the staff at COMO was no exception. Well-trained, service-minded, professional and smiling. It is just wonderful to experience. The American front office manager was very kind and professional, making me feel like an important guest from the minute I stepped in.

What about the rooms: The standard rooms are unique and charming despite being small and lacking a rain shower in the bathroom. My bed was comfortable, and it was also great to have a shower with COMO’s wonderful products. The best thing about the rooms is, however, the outstanding views.
