Landhaus Stricker

Location: Sylt, Germany.

My Experience: Landhaus Stricker is a Relais & Châteaux-associated hotel located just outside the main town on the island of Sylt, called Westerland. I stayed in a beautiful room that included a soft, comfortable bed, separate sitting area, a good shower and complimentary high-speed internet access.

Landhaus Stricker has a Michelin-starred restaurant called Bodendorf’s named after the chef and owner, Holger Bodendorf. I had seven courses for dinner and must say one star for this restaurant is in my opinion not enough. Both the food and service are comparable with some of the two Michelin-starred restaurants I’ve tried.

The key to Mr Bodendorf’s success is to import the best ingredients possible, he told me during our talk after the dinner. It’s not a cheap restaurant to dine at, but the operational cost is expensive in a destination with hardly any local produce. The following morning, I checked out early to get back on the ferry to Denmark after two great Relais & Châteaux experiences on Sylt.

Duration of Stay/Visit: One night.

My Opinion: Great experience.
