Gutshaus Stolpe
Location: Stolpe, a small village in Germany.
Notes About My Experience:
- Located in the small village of Stolpe, but completely quiet and feels like a very remote countryside hotel.
- Warm welcome from the receptionist. She escorted me to the room, and somehow tried to say she didn’t speak much English, so I got the introduction in Germany.
- The room was similar to many of the Relais & Châteaux hotels I have stayed in Europe with an “old school” design. The bed wasn’t very soft, but comfortable. The rain shower wasn’t separate from the bathtub but worked well.
- Complimentary fast internet access with over 10 Megabyte per second in download, and just under one in upload.
- I had a nice walk in their big garden. The hotel has very beautiful surroundings, and I really liked how quiet it was.
- Great food at their Michelin-starred restaurant. Björn Kapelke is a talented young chef who joined Gutshaus Stolpe recently. We had a great conversation before the dining experience.
- The breakfast was basic, especially compared to the dinner the night before. A way to improve this hotel experience would be to develop a menu of good dishes prepared by the chef.
- Excellent value for money. It’s one of the cheapest Relais & Châteaux’s, and for the price, it is in my opinion great value.
Duration of Stay/Visit: One night.
Why did I Select This Hotel? It’s membership of Relais & Châteaux.
My Opinion: Great experience.
