COMO Shambhala Estate is probably known by many for being an extraordinary property for its unique health retreat experience in a very beautiful location near Ubud.
My experience started with a warm welcome and the place felt very special right from the start. I was right after escorted to a beautiful Terrace Suite which wasn’t the most luxurious I have stayed in, but the design and location made it feel very special. It had an outdoor bathtub and rainshower as the highlights and specially produced bathroom amenities.
The food is always important when staying in a remote location and it exceeded my expectations with a focus on healthy, high-quality ingredients including organic vegetables. The ala carte breakfast is world-class and one of the better ones I’ve had in my travels. It is easy to see a big difference in food quality between COMO Shambhala and many of the other top resorts in Bali.
The service is always the most important thing and Bali rarely disappoints. Mainly because the locals are so passionate, friendly, well-trained and smiling. COMO Shambhala delivers some of the best services you can experience in any Balinese resort and thereby also in the world. The butlers are top professionals and the service level especially the restaurants is very personalized and surely the best I’ve experienced in Bali together with The Chedi Club. For me, it makes a big difference only having 30 rooms total compared to other great resorts in Bali with a much higher amount of rooms.
Finally, it is worth mentioning their impressive state-of-the-art wellness facilities, beautiful swimming pool and also a note for the smoking policy. Smoking is not allowed anywhere, except in a very small smoking area and I can only hope other Balinese resorts will follow their concept. I rank COMO Shambhala as a fantastic experience not only because it is fantastic, but also because I like their concept and can’t recommend COMO Shambhala enough for even the most discerning traveller.
