Delaire Graff Estate nestled in the Stellenbosch Winelands of South Africa, epitomizes refined luxury through its world-class vineyard, remarkable art collection, and intimate five-star accommodations. Perched high on the Helshoogte Mountain Pass, the estate offers beautiful panoramic views of vineyards rolling into dramatic mountain landscapes. Every corner of the property reflects owner Laurence Graff’s vision of elegance, where fine art, architecture, and nature blend seamlessly.
Opened in 2010, Delaire Graff Estate quickly gained international recognition, including a place on Condé Nast Traveler’s prestigious Hot List. These accolades, combined with its high room rates and stellar reputation, made it an obvious choice for my project. The estate is intentionally intimate, featuring only ten private villas, ensuring a serene and exclusive atmosphere from the moment of arrival.
I arrived in the afternoon and was greeted with warm, attentive service before being escorted to my villa. I stayed in a Luxury Lodge—an 80-square-metre space designed with understated sophistication. The highlight was a large private swimming pool overlooking the vineyards, perfect for quiet relaxation. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the spacious bathroom was stocked with Aromatherapy Associates products.
The estate’s location near Stellenbosch is among the most beautiful I have ever experienced. Complimentary amenities such as high-speed internet, minibar, and laundry services further enhance the feeling of effortless luxury. Dining at Delaire Graff was another standout. While pricey by South African standards, the food was fantastic. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner across the estate’s two restaurants were consistently memorable, with impeccable presentation and attentive, friendly service.
One of the estate’s hidden gems is its private cinema, located near reception—a cozy and elegant space ideal for unwinding in the evening. Overall, Delaire Graff Estate delivers a truly special experience with a high level of accommodation, food and service.
