Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa Maldives

A great private island resort-experience can be expected at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa. Nestled on a private island, this expansive resort offers luxurious overwater villas, beachfront bungalows, and even a treehouse villa. Guests can explore lush gardens, dive into crystal-clear waters, or tee off at the championship golf course. They can also unwind at CHI, The Spa, experience the cuisine, and the great service on this beautiful private island.

Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.

My Arrival Experience: Warm welcome from staff and immediately escorted to the room for in-room check-in.
What I Liked the Most: The water villas and the unique location.
What About the Food: This is a point at which Shangri-La could improve. The breakfast buffet wasn’t good. I missed high-quality ingredients like I’ve seen at some of the other Maldivian resorts. The lunch was fine, but nothing special.
What About the Service: Great and professional service at this well-managed resort. I found the service to be just below resorts like Soneva Fushi and Four Seasons, but much better than most resorts I have stayed in the Maldives. Great attention to detail and friendly attitude from all the staff I experienced.
What About My Room: This is a wonderful water villa with an amazing, comfortable, and soft bed. The bathroom has a freestanding bathtub and both indoor and outdoor showers. There could have been bath salt, but that is probably the only thing to point out in an otherwise outstanding water villa.

Complimentary Internet: Yes, and very fast. Around 5 MB per second in download and upload.
My Overall Impression: It was a great+ experience. With its location in the south of the country, it is a little different from other Maldivian resorts. It is one of the best resorts in the Maldives, just below my personal favourites.
