Scandic Seilet, Molde
Scandic Seilet Molde is a large, modern hotel located in the town of Molde, in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The hotel sits right on the waterfront, offering views across the Romsdalsfjord and the surrounding mountains. Its location makes it easy for guests to explore both the town itself and the natural scenery nearby, including fjords, islands, and hiking trails.
Norway is one of my favourite countries in the world, but before this trip I had never been to Molde and the nearby Aalesund, but both cities were impressive. I find Norway similar to my home country of Denmark in many ways and experiencing stunning nature in comfortable surroundings that feels similar to home is special for me.
The building of the hotel is distinctive and recognizable in Molde because of its triangular, sail-like shape and is according to the hotel manager, one of the most photographed buildings in Norway. From the outside, it looks modern and clean, with a strong emphasis on glass windows and open terraces to take advantage of the beautiful fjord views. Inside, the hotel is simple and functional. The design focuses on comfort and practicality, and it has a light and bright atmosphere. The reception staff were friendly and I arrived at a beautiful room which I really liked with a great comfort level, awesome bed, lovely shower and stunning view.
Scandic Seilet Molde has 224 rooms and suites. Most rooms are designed to make the most of the views, with large windows facing the fjord or the mountains. Rooms are comfortable and equipped with standard amenities such as good beds, private bathrooms, Wi-Fi, desks, and seating areas. The style is neutral and straightforward, with light-colored furniture and simple decorations. Some rooms are slightly larger and suitable for families or longer stays.
The hotel offers a variety of facilities. There is a fitness center with modern exercise equipment and a small wellness area for guests to relax. For dining, Scandic Seilet has a main restaurant that serves breakfast, while lunch and dinner are served in the main season. Breakfast is typically included in room rates and features a range of hot and cold items, including eggs, bread, fruit, and coffee. Dinner menus often focus on Norwegian cuisine, with fresh seafood, meat dishes, and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant also has a view of the fjord, making it a pleasant place to eat at any time of day. Right next to the hotel is the stadium where I went for a game on one of the evenings.
There is also a bar area where guests can have a drink or a light snack. The bar is casual and relaxed. It is not a busy nightlife spot, but rather a place to sit quietly, enjoy the view, or meet other travellers.
Scandic Seilet Molde is suitable for a wide range of travellers. Many guests are in the area for business, as Molde has a number of companies and public offices. Conference and meeting rooms are available, and the hotel can host larger events such as seminars, workshops, or small conventions. At the same time, it works well for tourists or families, because it has easy access to outdoor activities and sightseeing. Including it has part of a road trip in Norway, like I did, is something I can highly recommend.
The location of the hotel is one of its main strengths. It is situated within walking distance of Molde town center, which has shops, cafés, and restaurants. Guests can easily explore the town or take a short walk along the waterfront promenade. The hotel is also a good base for trips into the surrounding area. Popular destinations nearby include the Atlantic Road, the Romsdalseggen ridge hike, and the fjords, which can be explored by boat tours, car, or public transport. Ferry connections from Molde also make it possible to visit nearby islands or other towns along the coast.
Service at Scandic Seilet Molde is straightforward and professional. Staff are polite and helpful, though the hotel is large and does not feel as personalized as a smaller property. Check-in and check-out are efficient, and staff can provide information about local attractions, transportation, or restaurants.
The hotel’s overall atmosphere is calm and practical. It is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Guests can expect reliable service, functional facilities, and rooms with good views. For those who value convenience, fjord views, and a central location in Molde, it is a great choice.
Many travellers appreciate the hotel’s combination of size and location. It is large enough to have good amenities, such as a restaurant and meeting rooms, while being small enough to feel manageable and not overcrowded.
Scandic Seilet Molde is also part of the Scandic hotel chain, which means that guests familiar with Scandic properties can expect a similar standard of service, room layout, and facilities. This consistency can be reassuring for travellers who want a predictable experience while still enjoying the natural surroundings of Molde.
In summary, Scandic Seilet Molde is a practical and comfortable hotel with a standout location on the Romsdalsfjord. It is suitable for both business travellers and tourists, offering good views, functional rooms, and a reliable standard of service. The waterfront position, easy access to the town center, and proximity to local attractions make it a convenient base for exploring the region. It is not a hotel for those looking for high-end luxury or unique boutique style, but it works very well for anyone who wants a straightforward, pleasant stay with fjord views in central Molde.
