InterContinental Cascais-Estoril

Portugal is one of my favourite countries and it is home to some of the friendliest people in the world. I visited Portugal for the first time in 2006, where I visited Lisbon, Porto and Braga. I have since been back a number of times and explored a lot more of the country. Perched along Portugal’s stunning Atlantic coastline, the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril offers a great blend of modern luxury and seaside charm. Located in the elegant town of Estoril, this five-star retreat is ideal for travellers seeking both relaxation and exploration.

Rooms and Suites

The hotel has 59 beautifully designed rooms and suites, many with beautiful ocean views. Each space combines contemporary style with comfort, featuring spacious terraces, cosy furnishings, and amenities like air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and coffee machines. For an extra premium experience, their junior suite and Atlantico suite offer extra space, with their one-bedroom suite featuring a large bathtub.

A Prime Location

Situated on Avenida Marginal, the InterContinental sits right on the “Portuguese Riviera.” Guests are just steps from Tamariz Beach and the famous Estoril Casino, while the picturesque town of Cascais—with its charming streets, lively marina, and inviting shops and restaurants—is only a short drive away. The location makes it easy to explore the best of the region while returning to a tranquil seaside escape.

Dining Experiences

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Bago du Vin, serves a creative fusion of Portuguese and international cuisine. Meals can be enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, making dining here a potentially memorable experience in both flavour and atmosphere.

Wellness and Relaxation

For those seeking rest and rejuvenation, the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril does not disappoint. The SPA InterContinental, in partnership with L’Occitane, offers a wide range of treatments designed to relax and refresh. Guests can also enjoy indoor and outdoor pools, a fully equipped fitness centre, and yoga sessions, ensuring every stay balances indulgence with wellness.

Who It’s For

Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a solo retreat, the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril offers something for everyone. Its combination of luxurious accommodations, scenic location, and thoughtful amenities makes it a standout choice along Portugal’s coast. If you are looking for social events such as weddings or meetings, Villa Atlântico within the hotel hosts these, where you can combine Portuguese hospitality with IHG’s standards.

I have rented a car in Portugal before and found it to be a surprisingly easy country to drive in. I highly recommend renting a car unless you are driving from your home country to Portugal, which is something I would like to do in the future.
