Hotel Grau Roig

The article is based on a stay in 2012.
Andorra is one of the smallest countries in the world, located between France and Spain and surrounded by strikingly beautiful mountain scenery. The ski resort Hotel Grau Roig was a member of Condé Nast Johansens when I stayed, and based on my previous experiences with the brand, I was confident the property would meet a high standard.
I arrived by public bus from Andorra la Vella, which conveniently stopped just outside the hotel. Upon arrival, a friendly Portuguese receptionist immediately escorted me to my room. I stayed in a Deluxe Suite, which was absolutely world-class. Recently renovated, the suite featured two Bang & Olufsen TVs, a very comfortable bed, uniquely designed sinks, and a large jacuzzi tub. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered beautiful mountain views, complemented by what must be the largest rain shower I’ve ever seen. Thoughtful details such as luxurious Bulgari amenities added an extra layer of refinement and comfort.
Hotel Grau Roig itself is beautifully designed, blending alpine charm with modern luxury. The interiors feature warm woods, stone elements, and soft lighting, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere that fits perfectly into its mountain surroundings. Despite its size, the resort feels intimate and calm, making it ideal for relaxation after a day on the slopes or hiking in the summer months.
The resort also boasts an impressive spa, beautifully designed and equipped with excellent facilities maintained to high standards. It was a highlight of my stay. Dining at the hotel was enjoyable, if somewhat pricey. The food quality was very good, and I particularly enjoyed the lasagna. Breakfast offered a generous selection with attentive and kind service.
Service throughout the hotel was friendly and professional, and the overall experience was very positive. Hotel Grau Roig has a very attractive design and was a truly memorable stay in the small but fascinating country of Andorra.
