Coinbase Refuses to Pay My Bonus

I want to share my recent experience with Coinbase as a warning to others who may be considering signing up based on their referral program.

I registered with Coinbase using a referral link that clearly stated I would receive $30 in Bitcoin after meeting certain conditions. However, after completing the required actions, I never received the bonus.

I reached out to Coinbase’s support chat, and a representative confirmed that a bonus was linked to my account—but oddly, not the $30 that was promised. Still, I waited, thinking the issue would be resolved. When nothing happened, I contacted support again. This time, I was told outright that I had not used a referral link at all, and they refused to honor any bonus whatsoever. I requested to be transferred to a supervisor, but Jessa wrote that it was not possible.

This inconsistent communication and refusal to take responsibility is unacceptable for a company handling people’s money. The referral promise was the sole reason I chose Coinbase, and I feel misled and dismissed.

I strongly caution anyone thinking about using Coinbase—especially if you’re attracted by their promotional offers. My experience shows they may not stand by their own terms, and resolving issues can be both frustrating and fruitless.

I highly recommend to stay far away from Coinbase.
