Kurumba Maldives (Second Stay)

Kurumba Maldives is a 5-star resort located on the island of Villingili in the Maldives. The resort features luxurious villas, a spa, and a range of activities such as snorkelling, diving, and fishing. Guests can enjoy fine dining at one of the resort’s restaurants or relax at the beach or pool.

My Arrival Experience: Warm welcome from Judit and the team.
What I Liked the Most: Food, which was way above my expectations.
What About the Food: Let’s break it into two categories. My breakfast and dinner experience at Thila, the highest-ranked restaurant in the Maldives on Tripadvisor, was excellent and some of the best food I’ve had in this country. I am normally not a fan of buffets, but the lunch buffet was one of the best ones I’ve seen in the Maldives, with a high quality of food, back to Thila. The service is quite good, but some staff could need more training. I didn’t get what I ordered for breakfast, but I explained it to the restaurant manager and got what I wanted.

As written earlier, Thila is the highest-ranked restaurant in the Maldives; in my opinion, it is well-deserved. Only a few places can compete with Thila in a country where food is the most frustrating element. Many resorts focus more on cost-saving than providing the best possible food for their guests. As the food is excellent, Thila, Kurumba would be one of the few Maldivian resorts I would consider staying at for more than a few days. I just can’t enjoy the Maldives fully if the food isn’t great, and that is why Kurumba would be one of my choices if I went back and stayed at one resort instead of the usual island hopping.

What About the Service: I found the service to be great overall. Like most other resorts, there are staff who need more training, but most of the staff are friendly and service-minded. Kurumba has more of a corporate feel than most Maldivian resorts. It felt a bit like Conrad, and it might have something to do with the size of the resort and the management’s more intense effort in training the staff.

What About My Room: My beautiful room had comfortable beds, an indoor shower and an outdoor rain shower, a working desk, a flat-screen TV, and easy access to the beach. There are many different room categories for various budgets.

Number of Rooms: 180.
